Sharon Mottley

Regional Program Manager, International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) North America and Caribbean (NAC)

Sharon Mottley (she/her/hers) career spans 30+ years and has worked in both the corporate and non-governmental sectors in Trinidad and Tobago and the United States. Her professional and personal undertaking is guided by her belief that social responsibility and volunteerism are key to addressing what ails us as a society and a people. She has committed to doing her part to ensuring fairness and justice for the most vulnerable and ending discrimination through education and empowerment. As a lifelong advocate and human rights activist, Sharon sat on the Board of the Coalition Advocating for the Inclusion of Sexual Orientation (CAISO) from 2010 until 2017. In 2012, she registered the Women’s Caucus of Trinidad and Tobago, a non-governmental organization providing safe spaces and networking opportunities to lesbian and bisexual women here in Trinidad and Tobago.

Sharon holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and Baruch College, specializing in Human Resources Management. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of the West Indies. She assumed the position of Regional Program Manager, International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) North America and Caribbean (NAC) on August 1, 2023.

Since 1978, ILGA has been committed to equal human rights for rainbow communities and their liberation from all forms of discrimination. ILGA World – the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association - is a worldwide federation of over 1,900 organizations from over 160 countries and territories campaigning for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex human rights.
