Kadeem Robinson

Policy Advocate, Caribbean Equality Project

From Sanguinetti, Jamaica, Kadeem Robinson (they/them) is an MPA-PNP student currently working as the Director of Legislation and Communications at the New York City Council. As the director, Kadeem works alongside one member of the Council body, shepherding policy and legislative priorities, organizing campaigns, and responding to community concerns for the Northwest Bronx. Kadeem is the Policy Advocate for Caribbean Equality Project, a New York-based non-profit advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ Caribbean immigrants, managing projects for digital campaigns and immigration legal support.  

 Prior to the City Council, Kadeem worked as a Senior Associate for Policy and Legislation in the Office of the Public Advocate, where they worked on policy matters aimed at reforming mandatory inclusionary housing, advancing health outcomes for transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers, and developing diversity, equity and inclusion tools to improve office efficiency. Kadeem also served as a New York City Urban Fellow and Public Safety Analyst in the Office of the First Deputy Mayor. They have studied and worked on policy, higher education, and community advocacy in China, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, and Malaysia. In their downtime, they co-manage and co-host the Stush an’ Bush podcast, making legible the lived experiences of LGBTQ Caribbean people.
