Sara Coria
Advocacy and Civic Engagement Coordinator • Caribbean Equality Project
Sara Coria (she/her) is a proud first-generation Mexican-American and the first in her family to graduate from college. A graduate of CUNY Baruch College with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Sara understands firsthand the challenges immigrant families face when navigating complex systems, especially when language barriers exist.
Growing up, she often supported her mother by interpreting documents, making phone calls, and interacting with agencies—experiences that shaped her deep commitment to language access and equitable resources for immigrant communities.
This passion guided her volunteer work with CUNY Citizenship Now!, where she assisted Spanish-speaking permanent residents with their applications, providing trusted guidance in their native language. Sara’s lived experiences and dedication to social justice led her to volunteer with the Caribbean Equality Project, where she became the organization’s first Legislative Advocacy Fellow.
Today, as the Advocacy and Civic Engagement Coordinator, Sara builds immigrant political power across New York City and leads campaigns such as Care for Immigrant Families and New York for All, advancing equity, inclusion, and dignity for all immigrants.
