Commemorating & working to protect those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
World Aids Day: Monday, December 1, 2024
Ending HIV stigma and discrimination in Caribbean communities is a crucial step toward fostering a more inclusive and supportive society. It begins with encouraging individuals to get tested and access the necessary care, which helps in early detection and effective sexual healthcare. By promoting awareness and education, we can dismantle misconceptions and prejudices surrounding HIV, replacing them with understanding and empathy. Protecting those impacted by HIV through love, care, and dignity involves creating safe environments where they feel respected and valued. Together, we can cultivate a community that stands united against stigma and discrimination, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
World AIDS Day is a crucial component that bridges the core concepts of Knowing Matters to the worldwide commemoration of those impacted by HIV/AIDS. This day exemplifies what it means to get tested, to know one’s status (because knowing IS beautiful!), and to access quality (health and mental wellness) care through linkages to organizations in NYC.
Caribbean Equality Project offers educational and inspirational presentations in annual commemoration of World AIDS Day—this takes the form of a remembrance vigil and storytelling.
